BETHLEHEM, Pa.-- A former member of the Penn State Men's Golf team is continuing to compete at a high level after graduation. Cody Cox ('17) claimed the Lehigh Valley Amateur on Sunday, September 24, defeating the defending champion 2-and-1 in the match play tournament.
The 81st annual tournament at the Green Pond Country Club in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, started on Saturday, September 16, with stroke play qualifying and ran through Sunday, September 24 in a tournament- style match play scoring system.
During his tenure at Penn State, Cox had a scoring average of 77.43 with his best season coming his sophomore year in 2014-15. That season, he played in seven of 11 events and averaged a 75.74 and posted his low-round as a Nittany Lion with a 68.
This year's Nittany Lion squad will be back in action at the Windon Memorial Classic, hosted by Northwestern at the Evanston Golf Club, Sunday-Monday, October 8-9.
