UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The 2017-18 Penn State swimming & diving season opens Saturday in McCoy Natatorium, as the Nittany Lions host the nationally-ranked Virginia men's and women's teams in a 14-event dual meet starting at 11 a.m.

The Series
The Penn State women's team is 14-18 all-time against Virginia since 1981. The two teams have met annually since the 2001-02 season. The Penn State men's team is 11-22 against Virginia in a series that dates all the way back to 1949. The teams have met annually since the 2001-02 season.
The Nittany Lions
Penn State returns an honorable mention All-American each on its men's Hector Garcia Boissier and women's (Ally McHugh) teams, and features several new faces with 11 freshmen on the men's side and 13 on the women's side. Leading the way will be men's captains Robbie Dickson and Ryan O'Neill and women's captains Hannah Harper and McKayla Mawn.
The Opponents
The Nittany Lions are facing tough competition from the start, as Virginia is ranked 13th on the women's side and 22nd on the men's in the initial CSCAA poll. Both Cavalier teams placed in the Top 20 at the NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships.

Penn State will travel to Raleigh, North Carolina, to face host NC State and Duke.
