Women's Poll
NEW ORLEANS, LA - The Penn State women's cross country team open week five at No. 9 and No. 30 in the latest NCAA Division I Cross Country National Coaches Poll, as announced Tuesday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
The Nittany Lion women are fresh off a victory at the Penn State National Open this past weekend in Happy Valley as the women's team topped in region foe Villanova 40-60 led by a 2-3 finish from Jillian Hunsberger and Kathryn Munks while also placing all five scorers in the top-25.
On the men's side, the Nittany Lions posted a second-place finish at the National Open, led by Colin Abert's third-place finish, elevating them to the No. 30 spot in the nation as well as sitting as the No. 5 team in the Mid-Atlantic Region.
The men have recorded a first, second, and third-place finish this season as well as earning four wins at the Spiked Shoe Invite on Sept. 8 at the Blue-White Course.
Penn State is one of 17 teams to currently have both of their cross country teams ranked in the top-30.
Penn State hits the course again Sun., Oct. 29th in Bloomington, Ind. for the Big Ten Championships hosted by Indiana University.
