UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- The Penn State men's tennis team is back on the court this weekend for another fall championship tournament. The Nittany Lions will be heading to East Lansing, Mich. to compete in the Big Ten Indoor Championships at Michigan State University. Play will begin Friday, October 27 and conclude Sunday, October 29.
Coming off a successful weekend at the ITA Regionals with multiple players advancing deep into the tournament, the Lions are focused heading into B1G Indoors. This tournament is also crucial for deciding the lineup for the spring season as well as solidifying doubles pairs.
"The Big 10 Indoor Championships are a great way to gauge how your team is progressing towards the spring season," said head coach Jeff Zinn. " Is all the 'hard work' put in this fall benefiting the team? Are guys improving from last year and how much have they improved? These are all questions that we hope are answered by playing in the tournament. We're looking forward to competing in the tournament."
"This is the first time the guys are competing indoors this fall," said associate head coach Paul Tobin. "This is an important tournament since it gives us a first look at the conference players. It also helps us narrow down our bottom half lineup and third doubles positions. We are looking forward to a good tournament."
