UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - For the fourth-straight game, the Penn State women's hockey team played to an overtime result, as the Nittany Lions and No. 9/10 Robert Morris Colonials finished in a 2-2 tie Sunday afternoon at the Pegula Ice Arena. Offensively for Penn State, Brooke Madsen (Eagan, Minn.) and Christi Vetter (Lakeville, Minn.) each tallied a second-period goal.

Robert Morris (5-1-2, 0-0-2 CHA) got its offense going midway through the first period, as Lexi Templeman put the Colonials in front 1-0 on a power play goal at 8:55. With 20 minutes of play in the books, Robert Morris led Penn State, 1-0, despite being outshot, 10-4.

Trailing 1-0 early in the second period, Vetter knotted the game up on her second goal of the season at 1:23. On the Vetter goal, freshman Katie Rankin (Kanata, Ontario) picked up her second career assist.

The Penn State (2-5-3, 0-0-2 CHA) offense then took the lead on Madsen's first goal of the 2017-18 campaign almost seven minutes later.

Prior to the goal, Madsen was serving a two-minute penalty, and once she was released freshman Natalie Heising (Maple Grove, Minn.) played the puck down ice to her. With just Robert Morris goaltender Elijah Milne-Price to beat, Madsen put the puck five-hole and gave the Nittany Lions a 2-1 lead at 8:13.

Robert Morris would ultimately level the game at two goals apiece on Kirsten Welsh's third goal of the season at 8:21 into the third period.

With neither team finding the back of the net for the third time on the afternoon, the game ended in a 2-2 tie giving each team a point in the College Hockey America (CHA) standings.

In net, senior Hannah Ehresmann (Minnetonka, Minn.) finished the day with 20 saves, while Milne-Price tallied a 24-save outing.

The Nittany Lions close out their four-game homestand against the Mercyhurst Lakers, Nov. 3-4. Puck drop is scheduled for 2 p.m. each day at the Pegula Ice Arena.
