COLUMBUS, Ohio - No. 5 Penn State (11-2, 4-1) controlled the tempo from beginning to end Friday afternoon as they rolled past Ohio State 3-0 at Buckeye Varsity Field on Big Ten Network.
"I thought we played really well as a team," said head coach Charlene Morett-Curtiss.
"I thought the defense did a really nice job on weathering a couple corners early in the game. We had great ball speed around the back and showed a lot of patience as well as movement inside and outside. I thought it was a solid game."
Gini Bramley handled the first two goals for Penn State - her sixth and seventh goals of the season - scoring on an unassisted effort in the sixth-minute followed by a goal in the 31st minute from the stick of Moira Putsch.
Following Putsch's assist, the junior from Media, Pa. posted a goal of her own with helo from Aurelia Meijer from the top of the circle to make it a 3-0 Penn State lead.
The Nittany Lions outshot Ohio State 18 to seven, as well as leading in penalty corners with five compared to three by the Buckeyes.
"It was good to get another Big Ten win, it'll be a quick turnaround for California tomorrow, but again, it was a really good effort today," Morett-Curtiss continued.
Penn State will return to the Buckeye Varsity Field tomorrow, Oct. 7 at 12 p.m. when Penn State takes on California in their second neutral contest of the season.
