WGOLF Sits in Third After Round One at Bettie Lou Evans Invitational

Lexington, Ky.- Penn State women's golf holds third place with a 290 (plus-2) after one round of play at the Bettie Lou Evans Invitational.

Leading the tournament is Notre Dame with four-under 284 followed by host Kentucky in second, only two strokes ahead of Penn State (288).

Junior Lauren Waller (Canonsburg, Pa.) is the highest on the leaderboard for the Nittany Lions. Waller had an eagle in the back nine on hole 13. She finished the round tied for seventh with a round score of one-under 71.

Tied for 12th place scoring an even par (72) is senior Ariana Coyle Diez (Dublin, Ireland). Also placing within the top 20 is sophomore Maddy Herr (New Hope, Pa.) finishing tied for 17th with a round score of 73 (plus-1).

Junior Cara Basso (Downingtown, Pa.) had four birdies in the first-round shooting two-over 74, while fellow junior Jackie Rogowicz (Yardley, Pa.) shot a 76 (plus-4) and tallied three birdies. Junior Kamerine Taylor (Dublin, Oh.) ended the first round with a 79 (plus-7).

At the top of the leaderboard is Toledo's Pimchanok Kawil with a round score of three-under 69.

Due to pending inclement weather, the final round, originally set for Sunday, has been moved to Saturday, Oct. 7. The format will now play 36 holes with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
