UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Penn State men's and women's swimming and diving teams will conclude action for the fall semester with an NCAA Championships formatted meet, as the Nittany Lions will compete at the Ohio State Invitational in McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion Friday to Sunday.

Competition begins with morning preliminaries Friday at 11 a.m. and evening finals at 6 p.m. Saturday will feature 10 a.m. prelims and 6 p.m. finals, while Sunday will conclude with 10 a.m. prelims and 4 p.m. finals.

The Nittany Lions
Penn State will be looking to close out the first half of its schedule with strong swims and hope to improve and add potential NCAA qualification times. On the women's side Ally McHugh has competed in just one meet, but owns the team's top performance ranking 11th in the NCAA in the 500 freestyle with NCAA B-cut time of 4:45.67. Freshman Jane Donohue has adapted to college swimming quite well, swimming a B-cut already in the 200 breaststroke of 2:15.63. On the men's side, Penn State is led by its Canadian duo of Kaelan Freund and Liam Veregin. Freund ranks ninth in the NCAA in the 100 breast, owning a B-cut time of 54.20 and 19th in the 200 breast with a B-cut of 1:59.37. Veregin also owns a B-cut, ranking 37th in the 100 back (48.48).

The Opposition
The Penn State men are one of nine teams competing, while the women are one of 12 teams. Sending both men's and women's teams in addition to Penn State and the host Buckeyes are Kentucky, NC State, Notre Dame, Pitt, West Virginia, Yale and Division III power Kenyon. Marshall, Florida Gulf Coast and Washington State will compete on the women's side only. CSCAA/TYR Top 25 Division I teams in the field include No. 15 Kentucky women, NC State's No. 5 men and No. 8 women, Notre Dame's No. 17 men and No. 25 women and Ohio State's No. 14 men and No. 19 women. Kenyon is ranked No. 3 on the men's side and No. 2 on the women's in Division III.
