UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Penn State volleyball saw senior middle blocker Haleigh Washington earn College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District on Thursday afternoon. First Team Academic All-District honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be announced in December.
Washington (Colorado Springs, Co.) has been named to the Academic All-District team for the third straight year as the philosophy major has maintained a 3.79-grade point average over her time at Penn State. In the 2015 campaign, Washington earned Academic All-America Second Team honors and was an Academic All-America Third Team honoree in 2016.
On the court, Washington has helped lead the Nittany Lions to a 26-1 record so far this season, and are currently the nation's unanimous No. 1 in the poll. Washington is averaging 3.01 kills with the nation's best hitting percentage of .515. She also averages 1.49 blocks per set, which is 12th in the nation.
Washington and the Nittany Lions prepare to close out the season on a three-match road swing, starting at Rutgers on Saturday, Nov. 18 for a 7 p.m. match.
