UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State fencing head coach Wes Glon received a National Letter of Intent (NLI) from one of the east coast's top young fencers. Ryan Griffiths, an epee fencer from Fair Lawn, N.J., signed an NLI to attend Penn State.
Griffiths fences for the New York Athletic Club under the direction of head coach Christian Rivera. He has enjoyed international success as he was runner-up in the 2017 Cadet Men's Epee World Championship, and took first Klagenfurt Austria individual cadet European cup 2015.
Griffiths also won the Klagenfurt Austria individual and team cadet European cup in 2016 and grabbed first place in the Bratislava individual cadet European Cup in 2017. He was also a 2017 Junior Olympic team champion.
