TEAM

  • Penn State improves to 38-2-1 all-time against Maryland and 13-1 in College Park.
  • The Nittany Lions registered their seventh 10-win regular season since joining the Big Ten and 23rd overall.
  • Penn State posted back-to-back 10-win seasons for the first time since 2008 and 2009.
  • The 66 points scored against Maryland are the most by a Penn State team in a Big Ten game. The previous high was 63 against Ohio State (1994) and Illinois (2005).
  • The 66 points are the most scored in a Penn State game since registering 66 markers against Coastal Carolina in 2008.
  • The 63-point margin of victory is the largest in a Big Ten game in program history.
  • The Nittany Lions have scored 20 or more points in 22 consecutive games, which breaks the school record of 20 games from 1993-95.
  • The 22 consecutive games with 20 or more points is the third-longest streak in Big Ten history, behind the 25-game streak by Michigan State (2013-15) and 46-game streak by Ohio State (2006-14).
  • The Nittany Lions scored 50 or more points in back-to-back games for the first time since 1997 when Penn State had 52 points against Temple (W, 52-10) and 57 tallies at Louisville (W, 57-21).
  • Penn State has four 50-point games this season, marking the most in a season since the1994 squad had five 50-point outings.
  • By holding the Terps scoreless in the first half, the Nittany Lions held their opponent off the scoreboard for at least one half for the seventh time this season.
  • DaeLun Darien played in all three phases of the game today. He saw time at wide receiver, at linebacker and on special teams.
  • Penn State will wait to find out its bowl fate when selections are announced on Sunday, Dec. 3.

OFFENSE

Trace McSorley

  • QB Trace McSorley has thrown a touchdown pass in 27 consecutive games, dating to the 2016 TaxSlayer Bowl, extending his Penn State record. The streak is the second-longest active streak in the FBS (Oklahoma's Baker Mayfield).
  • McSorley had both a rushing and passing touchdown in a game for the 16th time in his career and ninth time this season.
  • McSorley is just the second player in Big Ten history to have 25 passing touchdowns and 10 rushing scores in a single season, joining Ohio State's JT Barrett in 2014.
  • With a first-quarter rushing touchdown, McSorley tied the Penn State record for rushing touchdowns by a quarterback. His 11 rushing scores this season equal the mark of 11 set by Michael Robinson in 2005.
  • McSorley became the first player in Penn State history with two 3,000-yard passing seasons. He has 3,228 yards this season and had 3,614 in 2016.
  • McSorley is the third player in Penn State history with 7,000 career passing yards, joining Christian Hackenberg (8,457; 2013-15) and Zack Mills (7,212; 2001-04).
  • McSorley became the second Penn State quarterback with 400 rushing yards in a season, joining Michael Robinson (2005).
  • With 36 rushing yards, McSorley upped his season total 431 to move into second place on Penn State's season quarterback rushing yardage list. He passed Michael Robinson (396; 2003) for the position.
  • With 237 passing yards, McSorley brought his season total to 3,228 yards to move into third place on the season passing chart. He surpassed Daryll Clark (3,003; 2009) for the position.
  • McSorley recorded his 21st career 200-yard performance, which ties the record set by Christian Hackenberg (2013-15). He also has 10 games with 200 or more passing yards this season, which is tied for third in Penn State history with Kerry Collins in 1994.
  • With 252 completions this season, McSorley jumped up three positions to third places against the Terps on the Penn State season list.
  • With 33 pass attempts against the Terps, McSorley upped his season total to 386 and moved into a tie for sixth place on the season list, passing Christian Hackenberg (359; 2015) for eighth place, Daryll Clark (381; 2009) for seventh place and he is tied with Anthony Morelli (386; 2006).
  • With 273 yards of total offense, McSorley improved his season total to 7,866 yards to move into second place on Penn State's single season list, passing Zack Mills (7,593; 2001-04) for the spot.
  • With three touchdowns responsible for, McSorley broke his own season TDR record of 36 set last season. McSorley has 37) touchdowns responsible for this season.
  • With 11 total touchdowns this season, McSorley is tied for 15th on Penn State's single season chart.

Saquon Barkley

  • With a 1-yard dive into the end zone in the third quarter, RB Saquon Barkley registered his 50th career touchdown.
  • Barkley's two rushing touchdowns give him 12 multiple-rushing touchdown games and 16 multiple-touchdown games in his career. It marks his sixth multiple-rushing touchdown game this season and eighth multiple-touchdown game this year.
  • Barkley now has 1,134 rushing yards on the season and moved up to 15th place on the Penn State single season charts. He passed his freshman season total (1,076; 2015) for 17th, Lenny Moore (1,082; 1954) for 16th and John Cappelletti (1,117; 1972) for 15th.
  • With 12 points against Maryland, Barkley upped his season scoring total to 126, which jumped him four spots on the Penn State single season list to sixth place.
  • Barkley now has 21 total touchdowns this season to rank fifth on the program single season list. He passed Curtis Enis (20; 1997) for the position.

Mike Gesicki

  • TE Mike Gesicki has a catch in 26 consecutive games.
  • Gesicki posted his fourth multi-touchdown game of the season with two scoring grabs in the first half.
  • With eight touchdowns this season, Gesicki is tied for ninth on the program's single season list, joining Terry Smith (1991) and Derek Moye (2010).
  • With 15 career touchdowns, Gesicki is tied for ninth on Penn State's career chart, joining Terry Smith (1988-91) and Joe Jurevicius (1994-97).

DaeSean Hamilton

  • With 747 receiving yards this season, WR DaeSean Hamilton is 20th on Penn State's single season list. He passed Kenny Jackson (697; 1982) for the spot.

Tommy Stevens

  • QB Tommy Stevens had career highs with 12 rushes for 113 yards and three touchdowns.
  • Stevens is the first Penn State quarterback to rush for 100 yards since Michael Robinson has 125 rushing yards against Wisconsin in 2005.
  • Stevens is the second Penn State quarterback in program history with 100+ rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns in the same game, joining Eugene "Shorty" Miller, who had 250 rushing yards and five rushing TDs in a 1913 game against Carnegie Tech (per ESPN Stats & Info).
  • Stevens threw his third career touchdown pass on a 4-yard dart to Tom Pancoast in the third quarter.
  • With a rushing and passing touchdown against Maryland, Stevens scored multiple ways in the same game for the second time in his career. He had a receiving and passing score against Georgia State earlier this season.

Jason Cabinda

  • LB Jason Cabinda forced his third career fumble on a strip-sack of Max Bortenschlager in the first quarter. The Terps recovered the ball and were forced to punt.

Grant Haley

  • CB Grant Haley had his 23rd career pass breakup, which moves him into a tie for 21st place on Penn State's all-time list.
  • Haley registered his second sack of the season and his career in the second quarter on fourth-and-4.

Nick Scott

  • S Nick Scott made his second career start, and first on defense, in place of Troy Apke, who missed the first half due to a targeting penalty in the second half of the Nebraska game. Scott started a game as a running back in 2015.

Kevin Givens

  • DE/DT Kevin Givens forced his first career fumble with a strip-sack of Max Bortenschlager in the first quarter. Maryland was able to recover the fumble, but were forced to punt.

Robert Windsor

  • DT Robert Windsor recovered his third fumble of the season in the second quarter.
  • The three fumble recoveries are the most by a Penn State player since Jordan Hill had three recoveries in 2011.

SPECIAL TEAMS

Tyler Davis

  • K Tyler Davis has made 139 consecutive extra point attempts. He moves into third place on the Big Ten's all-time list, passing Jeff Budzien, Northwestern (136; 2010-13) for the position.
  • With a 30-yard field goal in the second quarter, Davis moved into a tie for seventh place on Penn State's career field goals list with 39 makes. He is tied with Matt Bahr (39; 1976-78) and Robbie Gould (2001-04).
  • With 256 career points, Davis moved into seventh place on Penn State's all-time scoring list, passing Lydell Mitchell (246; 1969-71) with his effort against the Terps.

Blake Gillikin

  • P Blake Gillikin had a 52-yard punt in the first quarter, it is his 13th 50-yard punt of the season and 26th of his career.

Josh & Zech McPhearson

  • Brothers and Maryland natives, Josh and Zech McPhearson, combined on a takeaway in the third quarter. Josh stripped the ball from Maryland kick returner, Javon Leake, and Zech recovered it to give the Nittany Lions the ball at the Maryland 13. It was the first forced fumble of Josh's career and first recovery for Zech.
