United Soccer Coaches All-Midwest Region Teams
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Three members of the Penn State women's soccer team received All-Midwest Region honors, as announced by the United Soccer Coaches. Emily Ogle (Strongsville, Ohio) garnered All-Midwest Region First Team honors, while Laura Freigang (Oppenheim, Germany) and Kaleigh Riehl (Fairfax Station, Va.) were tabbed with All-Midwest Region Second Team plaudits.
Ogle, a redshirt junior midfielder, started all 24 matches for the Nittany Lions during the 2017 season. Ogle receives her second All-Region First Team award (2015) after posting 13 points on four goals and five assists this past season. She also finished second on the team in minutes played (2,132) and went 3-for-3 on penalty kick attempts in 2017.
Freigang, a sophomore midfielder/forward, played in 22 contests, which included 14 starts. During her sophomore season, Freigang led the team in goals (nine) and points (19). Four of Freigang's nine goals in 2017 were game-winners, which included three overtime game-winning goals.
Riehl, a redshirt sophomore defender, started all 24 contests on the Nittany Lion backline in 2017. Riehl was a part of the Penn State defense that tallied 13 shutouts in 24 matches. Individually, Riehl led the team in minutes played (2,158) and she recorded her lone goal of the season in a 4-2 win at Arkansas on Aug. 25.
