OLEAN, N.Y. -- Entering halftime with a 12-point lead, the Penn State women's basketball team looked primed to remain perfect in true road contests this season, however St. Bonaventure used a 37-22 edge in the second half to topple the Lady Lions, 65-62, on Saturday inside the Reilly Center.

A 17-3 spurt for the Bonnies (5-5) gave the home team their first lead of the contest, 45-43, with 3:40 to play in the third quarter and the two teams would trade the lead six more times in the contest.

In the end, the Lady Lions (8-3) had three shots with under 10 seconds remaining, but all three caromed off the rim and the Bonnies were able to hold on for the victory.

Junior Teniya Page (Chicago, Ill.) paced Penn State with 18 points on 7-of-17 shooting from the field. Page was 3-of-3 from the free throw line, adding six rebounds, four assists and three steals in the game.

Redshirt-sophomore Amari Carter (Washington, D.C.) was the only other Lady Lion in double-figures, finishing the night with 12 tallies. She added four rebounds, four assists and two steals.

With 11 rebounds, junior Jaylen Williams (Easton, Mass.) posted her first career double-digit rebound effort and narrowly missed a double-double with nine points. Sophomore Siyeh Frazier (Detroit, Mich.) added a career-best two blocked shots, while scoring six points with two assists and two steals.

For St. Bonaventure, Mckenna Maycock scored 23 points to go along with eight rebounds and Mariah Ruff added 22 points, eight rebounds and seven assists.

With 0:58 left in the fourth quarter
Arielle Harvey sliced through the lane for an athletic layup in traffic and Jalisha Terry added a pair of free throws with 25 seconds left to make it a three-point game, 63-60. On the ensuing Penn State possession, Carter was fouled shooting a 3-pointer, but was only able to make 2-of-3 from the stripe. Maycock followed with two more Bonnie free throws and Penn State's final three shots were off the mark.

  • G Teniya Page -- Led Penn State with 18 points. Added six rebounds, four assists and three steals.
  • G Amari Carter --Scored 12 points and added four assists.
  • F Jaylen Williams --Pulled down a career-high 11 rebounds for her first career double-digit rebound game. Added nine points.
  • Narrow Margins --Penn State and St. Bonaventure were close in nearly every statistical category, with the Lady Lions owning the edge in rebounds (41-40), blocked shots (3-0), steals (9-6) and free throws made (14-8). The Bonnies had more field goals (25-22), made 3-pointers (7-4) and assists (12-11). The two teams each committed 12 turnovers.

  • Second Half Surge -- The Bonnies outscored the Lady Lions by 15 points in the second half, owning a 37-22 edge in the scoring column.

First Quarter
Penn State scored the first six points of the game and led 8-2 after a Frazier jumper with 8:05 to play in the quarter. The Bonnies were never able to cut the lead to on possession in the opening 10 minutes, as Penn State closed on a 7-4 run to take a seven-point lead after the first frame. Second Quarter
Penn State used a 14-6 run over the first seven minutes of the second quarter to open up a double-digit lead on a Jaida Travascio-Green (Lisle, Ill.) 3-pointer with 3:12 left in the frame. Alisia Smith (Lansing, Mich.) followed with a layup and Penn State led, 33-21. After St. Bonaventure trimmed the lead to nine points on a Maycock layup with 27 seconds in the frame, Travascio-Green hit her second triple of the frame with six seconds on the clock to send Penn State into the locker room with a double-digit advantage.

Third Quarter
The Bonnies came out of the locker room and went on a 17-3 spurt over the first six minutes and took their first lead of the game on a Ruff 3-pointer with 3:41 to play in the frame. Carter answered on the next Penn State possession with a 3-pointer of her own and five-straight Penn State points by Page sandwiched a Ruff layup to build PSU's lead back to four points. The frame ended with one Carter free throw, which followed a pair of Bonnie makes from the charity stripe, and the Blue and White led by three heading into the final 10 minutes.

Fourth Quarter
The fourth quarter featured five lead changes and three ties, with St. Bonaventure taking the final lead switch on a Harvey layup with 58 seconds left in the contest, making it 61-60 in favor of the home team. After Terry made a pair of free throws with 25 ticks on the clock to make it 63-60, Carter was fouled shooting a 3-pointer, but was only able to make 2-of-3 from the stripe. Maycock followed with two Bonnie freebies and all three of Penn State's game-tying attempts caromed off the back iron.
