Jan. 16, 2018

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Penn State senior Megan McCloskey has been selected to participate in the Autonomy 5 Student-Athlete meetings at the 2018 NCAA Convention on behalf of the Big Ten Conference, Jan. 17-20 in Indianapolis, Ind.

At the 2018 NCAA Convention, Division I members will review a variety of proposals aimed at improving the college sports experience for student-athletes.

Both the Division I Council members and representatives from the schools in the Atlantic Coast, Big 12, Big Ten, Pac-12 and Southeastern conferences will vote on proposals dealing with issues such as competition schedules and medical expenses. The structure of both voting bodies includes athletics administrators, college athletes and faculty members who will cast votes on each proposal.

McCloskey, who serves as President of the 2017-18 SAAB Executive Board, is a high jumper for the Nittany Lion track & field team. She recorded the No. 2 all-time mark in high jump last year at the LSU Battle on the Bayou in Baton Rouge, La.

A public relations major from Lower Gwynedd, Pa., McCloskey has earned Academic All-Big Ten honors the past two years. She also was named a Big Ten Distinguished Scholar in 2015-16 for earning a 3.7 grade-point average. Last fall, McCloskey was a member of the Penn State Homecoming Court. She is also a track & field team captain for the 2018 season.
