UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Penn State senior Connor Scanlon completed a sweep of the men's events, while senior captain McKayla Mawn won the women's 1-meter to complete the Penn State Diving Invitational Sunday in McCoy Natatorium.

Scanlon led a 1-2 Penn State finish in the men's 3-meter with a score of 333.00, as freshman Bryce Hoch placed second with a NCAA Zone Region qualifying score of 324.90, squeaking past the standard of 320 points with his final dive. Both scores were improvements on their preliminary efforts.

On the women's side Mawn (241.55) led the Nittany Lions as they claimed three of the top four placings in the 1-meter finals. She outlasted a challenge from La Salle's Sydney Szopo (236.65), who claimed the 3-meter title Saturday, and Penn State freshman Kamryn Umbel and sophomore Christina Crowell followed in third (230.40) and fourth (228.50), respectively.

On Saturday, Scanlon bested his teammates and La Salle, Loyola and Drexel to win the 1-meter with 324.25 points, and he posted a score of 338.80 in the prelims. Junior Jack Crow and Hoch placed third (285.70) and fifth (269.45), respectively. Crow (312.95) and Hoch (285.25) also had strong preliminary efforts.

Umbel (256.45) and Crowell (241.60) led the women's 3-meter after the preliminaries, but less than 20 points separated the top five in the evenly matched field that included La Salle and Loyola. The top three positions in the finals were then decided by less than three points, as Szopo ultimately won in the finals with a score of 247.15, and was closely followed by Loyola's Lindsey Staszewski (245.55) and Umbel (244.55). Mawn (225.15) was fourth and Crowell was fifth (218.00).

The entire Penn State swimming & diving team will be back in action in McCoy Natatorium Friday, Feb. 2 at 5 p.m. for a dual meet against Villanova. Fans are encouraged to arrive early and celebrate the team's seven seniors during Senior Day ceremonies before the meet and stay for the third-annual Great Penn State Duck Toss during the second intermission.
