COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Penn State women's hockey team fell 2-0 to the No. 6/7 Ohio State Buckeyes Saturday afternoon at the OSU Ice Rink. Senior netminder Hannah Ehresmann (Minnetonka, Minn.) recorded 39 saves for the Nittany Lions in Saturday's contest.
With the score still 0-0 after 30 minutes of action, Liz Schepers netted her fifth goal of the season to put the Buckeyes (13-5-4, 8-2-4 WCHA) in front of the Nittany Lions (5-8-8, 2-2-4 CHA), 1-0, at 10:49 into the second frame.
The score remained 1-0 in favor of Ohio State until Grace Zarzecki connected on a penalty shot to make it a 2-0 contest for Ohio State at 11:29 into the third period.
The Nittany Lions were unable to find the back of the net during the final 8:31 of regulation giving Ohio State the 2-0 victory.
In net for the Buckeyes, Kassidy Sauve made 24 saves to capture the shutout win.
Penn State closes out its 11-game road trip at Lindenwood, Jan. 12-13. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. (EST) and 2 p.m. (EST) at the Lindenwood Ice Arena in Wentzville, Mo.
