US LACROSSE RELEASE
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Penn State men's lacrosse will be represented on the 23-man U.S. men's national team roster that will compete in the Federation of International Lacrosse Men's World Championship July 12-21 in Netanya, Israel as Nittany Lion alum Greg Gurenlian (2003-06) was named to the squad.
Gurenlian, who retired from Major League Lacrosse after the 2017 season, will be making his second appearance on a national team roster after helping Team USA to a silver medal in Denver in 2014 with the world championship team.
"I retired from the MLL so that I could give Team USA my absolute focus," Gurenlian stated. "I'll train harder than ever before and be ready to compete as hard as humanly possible. I want to do my part in helping this group of outstanding people reach our ultimate goal. Everyone knows I bleed blue and white, and that I am Penn State through and through. The fact I get to represent Nittany Lions everywhere means a lot to me. WE ARE!"
The roster includes eight veterans from the 2014 world championship team that won a silver medal in Denver — Gurenlian, Jesse Bernhardt, Ned Crotty, Tucker Durkin, Kyle Hartzell, Marcus Holman, Rob Pannell and Paul Rabil.
Gurenlian will also be joined by current Penn State assistant coach John Haus, and the duo will look to help Team USA go for gold in mid-July.
The team will have a final training weekend in late June before heading to Israel in early July for the world championship.
