Arceri Picks up a Pair of Weekly Honors

Feb. 20, 2018

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Penn State men's lacrosse sophomore Gerard Arceri was named the Big Ten Specialist of the Week, as well as, being named to the USILA Team of the Week for his dominating performance against Stony Brook on Saturday, as announced by the league office and USILA on Tuesday afternoon.

Arceri was a key cog in the Nittany Lions' offense as he went 20-27 on the faceoff, including a commanding 9 of 10 in the opening quarter that led to three goals in the first 1:03 of the game.

The sophomore from St. James, N.Y., finished the game with a career-high 16 ground balls, and three points, scoring two goals and dishing out his first career assist.

This was Arceri's first career multi-goal game and he finished with a season-high .741 faceoff winning percentage.

This is Arceri's first Big Ten weekly award of the season, and the third Specialist of the Week honor of his career (2/14/17, 3/8/17).

This is the third-straight week that the Big Ten has honored Penn State as Ryan Keenan was honored as Player of the Week and Freshman Jack Kelly earned Freshman of the Week on February 6, and Mac O'Keefe earned Player of the Week honors last week.

The USILA Team of the Week is newly established by the USILA for this season. Arceri is one of ten players honored from all around Division I men's lacrosse. He is also the second player named to a team this season as Keenan was honored following the first week of the season.

The Nittany Lions are slated to host Robert Morris on Saturday, February 24 in a 12 p.m. game out at Panzer Stadium.
