UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Penn State men's basketball program will honor its seniors in a ceremony prior to the start of the Nittany Lions' contest vs. No. 17 Michigan on Wednesday, February 21 at the Bryce Jordan Center.
Guard Shep Garner, forward Julian Moore and senior managers Mike Cherry, Kristine Cugliotta, AJ Ottomano and Jack Urquhart will receive their letterman's blankets before Penn State's final home game.
Tipoff is at 7 p.m. and the Senior Day ceremony begins at approximately 6:35 p.m. Gates A, B and C will open at 6 p.m. Posters of the senior student-athletes will be distributed at the entrances.
The student section, the Legion of Blue, has called for a "Penn State Whiteout" and is encouraging all Penn State students to wear white to support the Nittany Lions.
Penn State students who attend Wednesday's game are invited to enjoy a free pregame buffet with a hot dog bar, various grab and go items and pretzels and popcorn, while supplies last, in the southeast corner of the arena at event level. The first 1,000 Penn State students in the student section will receive a free "We're Climbin'" T-shirt.
Nittany Lion student-athletes from all 31 sports who earned a 3.0 or higher grade-point average in the fall 2017 semester will be recognized at halftime by Director of Athletics Sandy Barbour. A school record 26 teams and 520 Nittany Lions earned a 3.0 GPA or higher last fall.
Student tickets are $5 and may be purchased at the door. Tickets for the Michigan game are available at gopsusports.com/tickets/m-baskbl-tickets.html.
Fans may also purchase tickets through the mobile experience app and get nine digital vouchers for $99.
Wednesday's meeting between Penn State (19-10, 9-7) and Michigan (22-7, 13-1) is the only regular-season contest of the year between the two institutions. The Nittany Lions have won six of their last eight games while the Wolverines have won four of their last five. The last time the two teams met in the BJC was January 6, 2015.
Enhanced security measures, which includes required screening of all fans through metal detectors, are in place. Fans are encouraged to permit enough time to park and enter the arena with enough time to enjoy the pregame activities. Parking in lots near the BJC is $5 cash for basketball games. Penn State employees with university parking passes may park for free in the following areas: Lot 44, Stadium West and Porter North.
