UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Penn State men's lacrosse team fell to Robert Morris, 12-9, on a rainy Saturday afternoon at Panzer Stadium in University Park, Pa.

The Nittany Lions got three points from juniors Matt Donnelly and Kevin Hill, as both tallied two goals and an assist.

Junior Ryan Keenan also added two goals out of the midfield, adding three ground balls and two caused turnovers.

Junior Chris Sabia had a solid all-around game, scoring a goal in his third straight contest, and causing a career-best five caused turnovers, and scooping up five ground balls.

Sophomore Gerard Arceri went 17-24 on the face, adding one goal and 10 ground balls. In the cage, sophomore goalie Colby Kneese tallied 10 saves.

QUARTER BREAKDOWN

1Q || Penn State opened the scoring at the 10:26 mark of the opening quarter as Matt Donnelly finished off a feed from Kevin Hill for the 1-0 advantage.

RMU responded when Eddie Smith found the back of the cage at the 7:27 mark, but just 19 seconds later Chris Sabia tilted the score back in favor of the hosts 2-1 after his third tally of the season.

The Colonials were quick to respond as Jimmy Perkins potted the equalizer at 6:43 before Kevin Hill's 10th of the season at 3:02 gave the Nittany Lions the 3-2 lead at the end of the first stanza.

2Q || The Nittany Lions wasted little time opening the second quarter as off the draw Gerard Arceri raced down the field and found the twine at 14:48 and Nick Spillane finished off a Matt Donnelly offering at 12:01 for the 5-2 margin.

Robert Morris then used a 3-0 run over an eight-minute span to tie the contest 5-5 with 1:38 left in the first half after goals by Matt Schmidt, Corson Kealey and Daniel Smith.

Penn State responded at Ryan Keenan fired one home with 48 tickets left on the clock, but then with just one second remaining in the half Ryan Smith equalized the game again for the visitors for the 6-6 halftime score.

3Q || Donnelly opened the second half just as he did the first by giving Penn State the lead with his second goal of the game at the 10:34 mark of the third quarter for the 7-6 score and that would be the only scoring in the frame.

4Q || RMU came out of the gate strong in the final 15 minutes as Tyson Gibson tied the game just nine seconds into the fourth quarter and Perkins then scored back-to-back goals to give the Colonials the 9-7 lead at the 9:16 mark.

Carter Yepson extended the lead to 10-7 with his tally at the 4:56 mark before Penn State attempted to mount a comeback with a goal from Ryan Keenan at 4:01, but just six ticks later Trey Arnold put the game back out of reach with his first of the game for the 11-8 advantage.

Schmitt added insurance with his second of the game at 2:20 off a feed from Perkins for the 12-8 score.

Hill fired in a late tally for Penn State with just 34 seconds remaining for the 12-9 final.
