Individual Notes
Teniya Page
// Junior Teniya Page broke her own Penn State Big Ten Tournament scoring record with 38 points on Wednesday night vs. Illinois in the opening round. She surpassed her 35-point effort from last season vs. Minnesota on March 2, 2017.
// The 38 points are the second-most in Big Ten Tournament history, trailing only Ohio State's Kelsey Mitchell's 43-point outburst vs. Rutgers in 2016.
// Page now owns the No. 2 and No. 4 (tied) scoring games in Big Ten Tournament history. The aforementioned 35-point effort is tied with four others for No. 4 on the tournament ledger.
// Furthermore, it was the second 30-point effort of Page's Big Ten Tournament career, as she joins Kelly Mazzante as the only Lady Lions with multiple 30-point games in the Big Ten Tournament. Mazzante scored 30 vs. Ohio State and 34 vs. Wisconsin in the 2002 Big Ten Tournament.
// Page, Mazzante and Tyra Grant (32 vs. Iowa; 2010) are the only Penn Staters to score 30 points in a Big Ten Tournament game.
// The 38-point effort is tied for No. 5 in Penn State single-game history, behind a 49-point effort from Mazzante at Minnesota in 2001, a 42-point game from Jen Bednarek vs. Syracuse in 1979, and 39-point outings from Maggie Lucas (Georgetown, 2012) and Angie Potthoff (Indiana, 1997). Mazzante also has a pair of 38-point games against Old Dominion (2003) and Illinois (2001).
// The 30-point effort was the seventh of Page's career and moves her into a tie with Lucas (2011-14) for No. 2 for career 30-point games in Penn State history.
// It was the 32nd career 20-point game (11th this season) and accounted for her 76th career double-figure scoring game (22nd of the season).
// The Chicago native reached double-figures for the 15th-straight contest, equaling her career-long streak, which she completed to end the 2016-17 season. That streak ended vs. Louisiana Tech on Nov. 24 in her first appearance of the 2017-18 season, returning from injury.
// Page's career-high 14 made field goals are also a Penn State Big Ten Tournament record, surpassing Mazzante's 12 makes vs. Wisconsin in 2002. That total ranks tied for No. 5 in Big Ten Tournament history.
// With 14 field goals, Page moved up three spots on the career field goals made charts and in. No. 17, passing Lisa Faloon(517; 1984-87), Sue Martin (517; 1977-80) and Carol Walderman (524; 1981-83).
// The six makes from the free throw stripe pushed Page into the top-10 in program history. She pushed her career total to 373 makes from the charity stripe, passing Suzie McConnell (371; 1985-88) for the No. 10 spot on the list.
// Her six free throws made moves her season total to 128, pushing her into No. 18 on the single-season charts and past Lucas (126; 2012-13).
// Collecting two steals in the game, Page moved into a tie for No. 42 on the career steals charts with teammate Amari Carter. The duo each has 115 career swipes.
// With four made 3-pointers, Page equaled her season high and Big Ten Tournament high. She hit four shots from distance earlier this season at Rutgers and vs. Minnesota last season in the tournament.
// Her two steals were also a Big Ten Tournament best.
Amari Carter
// Redshirt-sophomore Amari Carter registered 10 points for her 34th career double-figure scoring game and the 25th such effort this season.
Alisia Smith
// Freshman Alisia Smith posted 11 points in her first career Big Ten Tournament game.
// The double-digit scoring game was the fourth of her career and first since a 10-point effort vs. Indiana on Jan. 3, 2018.
Jaylen Williams
// Junior Jaylen Williams scored a Big Ten Tournament personal-best seven points. Her previous high was two points on two occasions.
Leah Knizner
// Junior Leah Knizner registered her first career assist vs. Illinois in the first career appearance at the Big Ten Tournament.
// Knizner also added one rebound.
