SPARK, Md. - The No. 20 Penn State men's lacrosse team fell, 9-7, to Cornell on Saturday afternoon in a neutral site showdown at the US Lacrosse Headquarters in Sparks, Md.

Penn State held a 6-3 lead into the opening of the final quarter of action, but a 6-1 final quarter in favor of Cornell was the difference in the game.

Junior Kevin Hill has a strong offensive performance, scoring three goals and adding an assist to lead the Nittany Lions in point on the afternoon.

Fellow junior Nick Spillane added three points as he tallied two assists and a goal. Sophomore Dylan Foulds recorded both a goal and an assist, while senior Tanner Peck added his first goal of the season, and freshman John Nostrant added his second of the season in as many games.

Junior Matt Donnelly and sophomore Mac O'Keefe both added assists to their stat line.

Sophomore goalie Colby Kneese made some timely saves throughout the game, many in man-down situations. Kneese finished with 13 saves and three ground balls.

QUARTER BREAKDOWN

1Q || Penn State saw Kevin Hill open things up for the offensive side of things as the junior netted back-to-back goals, the first coming off a dish from Dylan Foulds, and the second coming off a pass from Nick Spillane. Just 30-seconds after Spillane registered the assists, he would get a goal of his own of an assist from Matt Donnelly. Gerard Arceri went 4-4 in the opening period at the 'x.' || Penn State 3-0

2Q || Cornell would snag their first of the game at the 10:45 mark of the second, but Penn State would respond with a goal from Foulds off the assist from Hill. With two minutes remaining, Cornell would cut into the lead with their second goal of the game. In the second quarter, Cornell switched to Paul Rasimowicz on the face, and he would go even with Penn State's Arceri, with two wins apiece. || Penn State 4-2

3Q || The two teams would hold each other scoreless for over half of the third quarter until Kevin Hill would end the drought by netting his third of the game with 6:23 to play in the quarter. A minute later, Mac O'Keefe would find Tanner Peck with a beautiful feed to give Penn State at 6-2 lead. However, Cornell would get one back with just six seconds on the clock. || Penn State 6-3

4Q || Cornell would score three straight goals to even the game with 7:23 left to play, but John Nostrant's goal off Spillane's pass would give Penn State the lead with 5:26 left with the score at 7-6. Over the final 4:30 minutes, Cornell would tack on three goals to come from behind in the win. Rasimowicz went 4-7 at the face, while Arceri went 3-7. Colby Kneese made four saves in the period while being peppered with shots, including having to stand his ground during four man-down situations.|| Cornell 9-7
