NABC RELEASE
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Penn State men's basketball sophomore guard Tony Carr was named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) District 7 First Team on Tuesday, March 13, as announced by the organization.
The District 7 First Team was made up of five Big Ten players as Carr was joined by Ohio State's Keita Bates-Diop, Michigan State's Miles Bridges, Purdue's Carsen Edwards, and Nebraska's James Palmer.
This marks the second all-district honor for Carr this season as he was named to the U.S. Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) 2017-18 All-District II Team last week. He was also named to the Big Ten All-Tournament Team following the championship game at Madison Square Garden and earned All-Big Ten First Team honors from both the league's coaches and the media. He also earned a spot on the Associated Press All-Big Ten team.
The Philadelphia, Pa., native, leads the league in scoring at 19.9 points per game and claimed the conference scoring title at 20.1 points per game. Carr scored in double figures in all but two games this season and led the Nittany Lions in the points column 18 times in 2017-18. He has also accounted for additional Penn State offensive production with 151 assists.
At the Big Ten Tournament, Carr, who scored 25 points in back-to-back games against Northwestern and Ohio State, averaged 20.7 points over the three games. He is one of only six players in Big Ten Tournament history to have multiple 25-point games in a single Big Ten Tournament.
Ticket information for Wednesday's NIT first round game has been distributed to season ticket holders and will be posted on GoPSUsports.com and on Penn State Athletics' social media channels. Public tickets are on sale at Ticketmaster.com.
