Lucas Named to Bowerman Watch List

David Lucas was one of 10 student-athletes featured on the Bowerman Post-Indoor Watch List as announced Thursday afternoon. This is the first time that Lucas has been featured on the Bowerman watch list.

Nine of the men on the newest index for collegiate track & field's highest honor fall in the first category: Southern California's Rai Benjaminand Michael Norman, Auburn's Akeem Bloomfield, Houston's Elijah Hall, Florida's Grant Holloway, New Mexico's Josh Kerr, Syracuse's Justyn Knight, Penn State's David Lucasand UTEP's Michael Saruni.

Lucas is coming off a sophomore season that saw him finish runner-up at the Big Ten Championships in the weight throw followed by an NCAA title at the Indoor Championships in College Station, Texas this past weekend.

The sophomore from Lititz, Pennsylvania, broke the facility record in the weight throw and won the individual title with a mark of 24.02m (78-9¾) after entering the meet with the fourth-best seed mark.

This is the second time this year that a Nittany Lion has been featured on the watch list joining Isaiah Harris who was on the list during the preseason.

Lucas and the Nittany Lions are set to open the outdoor season at the Pac-12/Big Ten Challenge Mar. 23-24 in Tempe, Ariz.
