Johns Island, S.C.- The Penn State women's golf team sits in sixth place with a team total of 584 (plus-8) after two rounds at the Briar's Creek Invitational.
The Nittany Lions moved up two spots on the leaderboard in the second round shooting two-over 290, improving on their 294 (plus-6) in round one. The team remains above Big Ten rival Maryland, tied for tenth.
Junior Cara Basso (Downingtown, Pa.) is tied for 12th in the 90-player field, shooting the lowest round for the Nittany Lions with three-under 69 in round two. Basso had an eagle on the 18th hole in round two and nine birdies between both rounds.
Tied for 15th is junior Jackie Rogowicz (Yardley, Pa.) shooting 144 (even) with one-over 73 in round one and one-under 71 in round two. Rogowicz tallied eight birdies for the tournament so far with six in the second round alone.
Sophomore Maddy Herr (New Hope, Pa.) kept it consistent with two-over 74 in both rounds leaving her tied for 33rd. Herr finished the back nine even to par (36) in round one and two-under 34 in round two.
Both junior Lauren Waller (Canonsburg, Pa.) and sophomore Megan McLean (Lebanon, N.J.) finished the day with scores of 149 (plus-5) and tied for 41st. Senior Ariana Coyle Diez (Mount Merrion, Dublin, Ireland) shot a 78 (plus-6) in round two and is tied for 78th.
Penn State will tee off for the final round tomorrow at 8:00 a.m. from holes four, five and six. Live Scoring is available at Golfstat.com.
