FH Earns NFHCA Team Academic Honors, Scholars of Distinction

CHANDLER, Ariz.
- The Penn State field hockey team has been honored as a Zag Field Hockey/NFHCA Division I National Academic Team, as announced by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association.

Penn State is one of 75 teams to earn the recognition in which teams had to achieve a minimum team grade point average of 3.0 during the fall semester of the 2017-18 academic year.

Brown University posted the highest team GPA with a mark of 3.74 while fellow Ivy League institutions Columbia University and Harvard University posted team GPAs of 3.66 and 3.63, respectively. The Top 5 was rounded out by LIU Brooklyn (3.59) and American University (3.58).

The NFHCA Office also announced that 138 student-athletes representing 61 schools have been selected as 2017 Zag Field Hockey / NFHCA Division I Scholars of Distinction. Penn State's Lisa Winters was one of the 138 student-athletes who earned the distinction.

The Division I Scholars of Distinction program recognizes those student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.90 or higher through the first semester of the 2017-18 academic year.
