MTN: No. 44 Penn State Faces B1G Weekend

March 28, 2018

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The No. 44 Penn State men's tennis team will continue Big Ten play this weekend when they travel to the Midwest. The Lions first take on No. 50 Wisconsin Friday, March 30 at 7 p.m. ET in Madison Wisc. The team then travels to Minneapolis to face No. 33 Minnesota Sunday, April 1 at 1 p.m. ET.

The No. 44 Nittany Lions (11-7, 1-2 B1G) are coming off a close loss to No. 8 Michigan. The team won the doubles point but couldn't clinch in tightly contested singles matches.

No. 50 Wisconsin (10-6, 2-1 B1G) is coming off a 7-0 sweep of Iowa. The Badgers are on a four game win streak and remain undefeated at home. Last season, Wisconsin swept Penn State, 7-0.

No. 33 Minnesota (10-4, 3-0 B1G) is coming off a 6-1 win over Nebraska. Before taking on the Nittany Lions, the Gophers will face No. 2 Ohio State Friday evening. Last season, the Lions knocked off the then No. 31 Gophers, 5-2.

"Obviously every match is important, but this weekend is crucial," said associate head coach Paul Tobin. "We're currently ranked No. 44 with Wisconsin a little bit behind us and Minnesota a little bit ahead of us. These are not easy road trips, but we've given ourselves plenty of time to prepare. I like our odds."

Up next, the Nittany Lions will be back at home, hosting Nebraska Saturday, April 7 at 12:00 p.m. and Iowa Sunday, Apr. 8 at 11:00 a.m.
