PISCATAWAY, N.J. ââ'¬" Penn State junior Hector Garcia Boissier (Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Spain) qualified for the NCAA Championships in the platform dive to conclude the NCAA Zone A Diving Championships Wednesday afternoon in Rutgers Aquatic Center.

Garcia posted a 12-dive score of 613.10 to place seventh and lead a trio of Nittany Lions competing. By virtue of earning automatic qualifications in the 3- and 1-meter springboards, Garcia only needed to place in the top 12 to earn a platform berth at the NCAA Championships.

Classmate Jack Crow (Bethesda, Md.) and freshman Bryce Hoch (Hatfield, Md.) also competed for the Nittany Lions, with Crow placing 14th (494.25 points) and Hoch placing 16th (425.75).
Garcia claimed gold Monday and Tuesday in the springboard events. Garcia posted a 12-dive score of 771.85 points to win the 1-meter Tuesday and a score of 844.50 to win the 3-meter Monday.

Led by Garcia, the Penn State men had three finalists both days. Tuesday in the 1-meter, senior Connor Scanlon (Laurel, Md.) placed 13th with a score of 596.05, while Crow was 18th with 533.45 points. Hoch also competed and totaled 250.90 points in the preliminaries.

On Monday, following Garcia's winning effort in the men's 3-meter, Scanlon placed ninth with 668.35 points and Crow was 14th with 608.65 points. Hoch also competed and scored 195.00 points on six dives in the preliminaries.
