WGOLF Finishes 7th at Hurricane Invitational

CORAL GABLES, Fla. - The Penn State women's golf team climbed three spots to finish seventh in the 13 team field at the Hurricane Invitational after a final round score of 303 (plus-15) on Wednesday afternoon from the Biltmore Golf Course.

Penn State finished with a three-round score of 910 (plus-46) while the Host Hurricanes secured the championship with a plus-two 866 finishing three strokes clear of Oklahoma in second. Coastal Carolina, Virginia Tech and Big Ten foe Maryland round out the top five with scores of 870 (plus-6), 882 (plus-18) and 888 (plus-24), respectively.

Senior Ariana Coyle Diez (Mount Merrion, Dublin, Ireland) paced the Nittany Lions on day 3 as she carded a team-best one-over 73. Junior Cara Basso (Downingtown, Pa.) was also strong on the day with a two-over 74 while sophomore Maddy Herr (New Hope, Pa.) and junior Jackie Rogowicz (Yardley, Pa.) registered rounds of three-over 75 and four-over 76, respectively.

Junior Lauren Waller (Canonsburg, Pa.) and sophomore Megan McLean (Lebanon, N.J.) rounded out the scoring with rounds of plus-six 78 and plus-10, 82.

The Nittany Lions record their sixth top-10 finish this season out of seven events played in as they will continue their spring season in two weeks when they travel to Charleston, S.C. for the Briar's Creek Invitational on March 19-20.
