UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. ââ'¬" A four-run fifth powered Ohio State to a 5-1 win over Penn State in the first game of a Big Ten baseball doubleheader Saturday afternoon in Medlar Field at Lubrano Park. The second game is in progress as of publishing time.

The first two innings were scoreless before Ohio State got on the scoreboard in the third by taking advantage of a pair of errors for a run. The Buckeyes then scored four runs in the fourth on back-to-back solo home runs by designated hitter Brady Cherry and centerfielder Dillon Dingler, an RBI-double by shortstop Noah West and then another Penn State error.

For Penn State, Ryan Sloniger (Punxsutawney, Pa.) led the eighth inning off with a triple, and he scored on base hit deep in the hole at short by fellow Punxsy native Braxton Giavedoni.

RHP Ryan Feltner (4-2) earned the win for the Buckeyes, throwing six scoreless innings with strikeouts, allowing five hits and three walks. Penn State earned strong innings of relief from RHP Conor Larkin (Royersford, Pa.), who allowed just two hits and a walk while striking out three over 4 2/3 innings.
