BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Penn State softball team took an 8-0 setback to Indiana, Friday April 20 at Andy Mohr Field in the Big Ten Conference series opener.

The Nittany Lions fell 8-0 in five innings to the Hoosiers, tallying one hit and one walk in the contest.

Junior Tori Dubois (Mt. Vernon, N.H.) notched the lone hit of the game for the Blue and White in the top of the first inning, while Paige Johnson (Clarksville, Tenn.) drew a walk in the first inning of action and sophomore Kennedy Legg (Keller, Texas) laid down a sacrifice bunt.

With her hit, Dubois extended her reached base streak to 11 games and her hitting streak to nine game.

Senior Jessica Cummings (Owings, Md.) took the loss in the circle, going 3.0 innings with three strikeouts, while Madey Smith (Washington. N.J.) threw one inning in relief.

Maddie Westmoreland led the Hoosiers with three hits and five RBI on the day and Tara Trainer picked up the win in the circle tossing all five innings.

Cummings and Trainer kept both offenses at bay for the first two innings of the contest before the Hoosiers opened scoring in the bottom of the third with a Westmoreland three-run home run.

Indiana added four runs to its tally in the bottom of the fourth inning on four hits to extend its lead to 7-0 over the Nittany Lions. The Hoosiers added the final run they needed for the five-inning victory in the top of the fifth inning when Sarah Galovich led off with a homerun to center field to end the game.
