WGolf Battles Through Day One

Maineville, Ohio- The Penn State women's golf team finished the first round of the Big Ten Championship in 13th place, ahead of rival Rutgers. The Nittany Lions shot a 309 (plus-21) for the round.

Michigan State is in the lead sitting in first place with a score of five-under 283. Maryland and Ohio State round out the top three on the leaderboard with scores of 288 (E) and 289 (plus-1) respectively.

Juniors Cara Basso (Downingtown, Pa.) and Lauren Waller (Canonsburg, Pa.) finish on top for Penn State both tying for 31st with first-round scores of 75 (plus-3). The two girls tallied five birdies for the team.

Fellow junior, Kamerine Taylor (Dublin, Ohio), follows close behind with a first-round score of 79 (plus-7) while sophomore Megan McLean (Lebanon, N.J.) finishes out round one with an 80 (plus-8).

Junior Jackie Rogowicz (Yardley, Pa.) and sophomore Maddy Herr (New Hope, Pa.) round out the lineup for the Nittany Lions both completing the round with scores of 83 (plus-11).

Round two tees off tomorrow, Saturday, Apr. 21, beginning at 9:30 a.m. Penn State will tee off from hole 10 starting at 9:57 a.m. Live scoring is available at Golfstat.com.
