WGolf Moves Up On The Leaderboard

Maineville, Ohio- The Penn State women's golf team moved up one spot on the leaderboard shooting a 294 (plus-6) in the second round of the Big Ten Championship to tie for 12th with Minnesota. The team holds a ten-stroke lead over Rutgers.

Maryland moved up to first place with a two-round score of eight-under 568 while Michigan State moved down a spot to second only one stroke behind Maryland. Ohio State remains in third place overall.

Junior Cara Basso (Downingtown, Pa.) shot a career-low round today finishing the second round five-under 67. She had Penn State's only eagle and five of the 16 birdies for the day. Basso's round of 67 tied for the lowest of the day with Ohio State's Rio Watanabe and Maryland's Xiaolin Tian.

Contributing four birdies in the round, junior Lauren Waller (Canonsburg, Pa.) shot two-over 74 in round two leaving her tied for 36th in the 84-player field. Sophomore Maddy Herr (New Hope, Pa.) improved her 83 (plus-11) in the first round shooting 76 (plus-4) today.

Junior Jackie Rogowicz (Yardley, Pa.) shot a 77 (plus-5) while fellow junior Kamerine Taylor (Dublin, Ohio) and sophomore Megan McLean (Lebanon, N.J.) shot 78 (plus-6) and 79 (plus-7) respectively. Taylor also tallied two birdies in the second round.

The final round of play begins tomorrow at 8:00 a.m. with the Nittany Lions teeing off starting at 8:27 a.m. from hole 10. Live scoring is available at Golfstat.com.
