Trio From WLAX Named All-Big Ten

ROSEMONT, Ill. ââ'¬" Senior Katie O'Donnell (West Chester, Pa.) and junior classmates Madison Carter (Davidsonville, Md.) and Kayla Brisolari (Crofton, Md.) were each named to the 2018 Women's Lacrosse All-Big Ten team as announced by the league office earlier Wednesday afternoon.

In total 21 student-athletes were named to the 2018 All-Big Ten squad with O'Donnell and Carter each being recognized as one of eight unanimous selections. Maryland and Northwestern paced the conference with six All-Big Ten nods each.

For O'Donnell and Carter this marks the third consecutive year the duo has been named to the All-Big Ten Team as they join Steph Lazo '17, Abby Smucker '17 and Madison Cyr '16 as the only unanimous selections since the Big Ten formed in 2015. For Brisolari this marks her first conference postseason honor.

O'Donnell, a Tewaaraton Award nominee, leads the team with 52 goals to rank second in the Big Ten and tied for 41st nationally while also leading the team with 58 points to rank sixth in the Big Ten. An Inside Lacrosse Preseason All-American, O'Donnell has scored four game-winning goals this season to rank second in the conference. The senior has also scored multiple goals in 14 games this season with three or more goals in 11.

This season O'Donnell has moved up to fourth all-time at Penn State in goals with 194 as she has a chance to become just the fourth player in program history to reach the 200 goal plateau. O'Donnell has also moved up to sixth on the Penn State all-time points list with 218 to her name.

Carter, who was also named an Inside Lacrosse Preseason All-American, is currently tied for third in the Big Ten with 47 goals and has moved all the way up the Penn State all-time goals list ranking right behind O'Donnell in fifth with 165 career goals.

Brisolari, a 2017 Big Ten All-Tournament team selection, earns her first All-Big Ten honor on defense as the junior ranks second on the team with 62 draw controls while her 17 caused turnovers are good for third. Brisolari has also added 18 groundballs to go along with nine goals and three assists for 12 points.

Senior Maggie Gallagher (Bel Air, Md.) was named Penn State's Sportsmanship Award honoree.

The Nittany Lions continue their season on Friday evening as they travel to Ann Arbor, Mich. for the Big Ten Tournament and take on No. 7 Northwestern in the second semifinal at 7:30 p.m. on BTN.
