FULL 2018 NCAA TOURNAMENT BRACKET
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Despite an upsetting finish in the Big Ten Tournament on Sunday afternoon, the Penn State Nittany Lions will be heading back to the NCAA Tournament after learning their fate on Sunday evening when the 2018 bracket was announced.
Penn State's quest for a third-straight Final Four will begin in Stony Brook, N.Y. on Friday, May 11 for a first-round match-up against Penn with a time to be announced at a later date. The winner will then battle the fifth-seed and host Seawolves on Sunday.
The Nittany Lions have dropped five of their last six contests, but picked up a crucial victory on Friday night against Northwestern that solidified their tournament berth. Penn State sits at 10-9 on the season heading into the NCAA Tournament while the Quakers are 13-4 after falling to Princeton in the IVY League final on Sunday afternoon.
Penn State is 8-8 all-time in NCAA First Round games and has won each of its two previous NCAA Tournament meetings against Penn with the most recent coming in the 2016 quarterfinals, an 8-4 victory in University Park. The Nittany Lions are 10-6 all-time against the Quakers.
Penn State has won its opening game of the NCAA Tournament in five of the last six years with the only loss being a first-round exit to Princeton in 2014. The Nittany Lions are 23-21 all-time in the big dance, but just 7-7 in neutral site games and 6-11 in true road contests away from Happy Valley.
