UNIVERSITY PARK, PA. - The first game time of the 2018 Penn State Football season presented by PSECU finds the Nittany Lions visiting Pittsburgh for an ABC Saturday Night Football game on Sept. 8. The Keystone Classic presented by Peoples Natural Gas will kick at 8 p.m. and air on ABC.
The Nittany Lions face Pitt for the third game of the four-game series. Penn State is 51-43-4 all-time against the Panthers. Last season, the Nittany Lions used a pair of Mike Gesicki touchdown catches and two scores by Saquon Barkley to post a 33-14 win over Pittsburgh. Barkley had 88 rushing yards and 45 receiving yards, while Gesicki had four catches for 39 yards. Marcus Allen sparked the defense with 12 tackles, including a safety in the fourth quarter.
Penn State will play at least one regular season night game for the 19th consecutive season. Every Penn State football game has been televised the past 13 seasons and 301 of the last 303 contests overall have been on TV.
Penn State returns 13 starters (8 offensive, 3 defensive, 2 specialists) and 26 additional lettermen. The Nittany Lions open the season at Beaver Stadium against Appalachian State September 1.
