MBB Faces N.C. State in Boardwalk Classic Dec. 15

June 4, 2018

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Penn State men's basketball team will meet N.C. State on Saturday, Dec. 15, 2018, in the inaugural Basketball Hall of Fame Boardwalk Classic in Atlantic City, N.J. The Nittany Lions and Wolfpack matchup is one of four on the slate at the iconic Boardwalk Hall with Temple vs. Davidson, Princeton vs. Iona, and Virginia Tech vs. Washington.

Game times, ticket availability and broadcast information for the Boardwalk Classic will be announced later this summer.

"We know our team is in a great environment anytime we can play in front of our alumni, fans and family, and the Basketball Hall of Fame is giving us the opportunity to showcase our program at the Boardwalk Classic in Atlantic City," said Penn State men's basketball coach Patrick Chambers. "Penn State has been invited to participate in previous Basketball Hall of Fame events and we've had great experiences. We're excited about this game and the destination."

Boardwalk Hall, located about an hour from Philadelphia, seats 14,770 for basketball and played host to the Atlantic 10 tournament from 2007-2012. This is the first game for the Nittany Lions in Atlantic City since a December 9, 1995 victory over Penn at the Convention Center.

The Nittany Lions and Wolfpack met in the 2017 Big Ten/ACC Challenge with N.C. State holding off Penn State for its win at Raleigh, N.C. The Wolfpack holds a 17-3 series advantage with only two meetings, 2017 and 2012, taking place in the last 18 years. The Nittany Lions went 2-1 against ACC opponents in 2017-18 with victories over Pittsburgh in the Legends Classic in the Barclays Center and at Notre Dame en route to their 2018 National Invitation Tournament title.

Penn State participated in previous Basketball Hall of Fame events, playing in the 2016 and 2011 Hall of Fame Tip-off series of games.
