Barratt Invited to World Junior Summer Showcase

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. ââ'¬" Rising sophomore Evan Barratt (Bristol, Pa.) was named one of 42 players who have been invited to the 2018 World Junior Summer Showcase as announced by USA Hockey earlier Friday morning. The camp will be held from July 28 through August 4 in Kamloops, British Columbia.

The players will audition for a spot on the U.S. National Junior Team that will take part in the 2019 International Ice Hockey Federation World Junior Championship, Dec. 26, 2018, through Jan. 5, 2019, in Vancouver and Victoria, British Columbia. This week-long camp will include 11 international competitions between Canada, Finland, Sweden and the United States.

Barratt, who was selected by the Chicago Blackhawks with the 90th pick in the third round of the 2017 NHL Entry Draft, finished his freshman campaign in Hockey Valley with 11 goals and seven assists in 32 games played. The Bristol, Pennsylvania native found his game late in the season scoring four goals while adding one assist during a stretch of four-straight victories over Minnesota.

Barratt is one of six players that competed in the Big Ten last season who will be part of the 42-man camp joining defensemen Josh Ess (Wisconsin), Quinn Hughes (Michigan) and Tommy Miller (Michigan State) as well as fellow forwards Sean Dhooghe (Wisconsin) and Josh Norris (Michigan).
