FB Student Season Tickets Exhausted

June 22, 2018

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Penn State Student Section sold out more than 21,000 tickets in just 48 minutes, highlighted by the sold-out allotments of the senior (3), junior (4), sophomore (6) and freshmen (9) classes in less than 10 minutes each. The Penn State Student Section has consistently sold out for four decades, showing the passion and dedication of Penn State students year-in and year-out.

"Every year I am blown away by our student ticket sale," head coach James Franklin said. "Selling more than 21,000 tickets in less than 50 minutes shows why our student section is unrivaled. They make Beaver Stadium the best environment and toughest place to play in the country. We are excited to get back on the field for our family reunions."

"Year in and year out Penn State students show their loyalty and deep support of football with our student ticket sale," Phil Esten, deputy director of athletics and chief operating officer, said. "While we wish we could accommodate every student who requested season tickets, the demand has far surpassed the supply, which is a testament to the experience in Beaver Stadium and passion for our football program. We are greatly appreciative to our students for their enthusiasm as they make Beaver Stadium a true home field advantage."

Students looking forward to being part of what ESPN The Magazine called, "The Nation's No. 1 Student Section," will be a part of a seven-game home schedule that features five Big Ten Conference contests. The Nittany Lions open the season against Appalachian State (Sept. 1; 3:30 p.m.) and face Kent State (Sept. 15; noon) to close out the non-conference schedule. In Big Ten play, Penn State welcomes Ohio State (Sept. 29), Michigan State (Oct. 13; 3:30/4 p.m. -- Homecoming), Iowa (Oct. 27), Wisconsin (Nov. 10) and Maryland (Nov. 24) to Happy Valley.

"The Penn State student section will once again be loud and proud in support of Penn State football in 2018," Jeff Garner, assistant AD, ticketing sales and service said. "The Penn State student section sold out in near record time this week, just another reason why they are consistently ranked as one of the best student sections in all of college football. Although we could not accommodate all of our student demand for season tickets, we are happy to continue the Penn State Student TicketExchange. The Student TicketExchange offers a ticket marketplace exclusively for Penn State students to buy and sell Penn State student section tickets so that all students have the opportunity to attend a Penn State football game even without season tickets."

More information on the Student TicketExchange will be posted to Student Central (www.GoPSUsports.com/studentcentral). Student ticket away game information will also be released closer to the season.

Penn State returns 13 starters (8 offensive, 3 defensive, 2 specialists) and 26 additional lettermen. The Nittany Lions open the season at Beaver Stadium against Appalachian State September 1.

More than 6,300 new season tickets have been sold for the 2018 season presented by PSECU. The public single game sale takes place beginning June 26.
