UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Penn State men's golf coach Greg Nye announced that Ryan Lee of Norwood, N.J., has signed a National Letter of Intent to enroll at Penn State and play golf for the Nittany Lions.

A senior at Northern Valley Regional High School at Old Tappan, Lee qualified for both the PGA Junior National Championship and the USGA Junior Amateur Championship in 2017.

"We are excited that Ryan has chosen to further his golf career with our Nittany Lion program," said Penn State men's golf coach Greg Nye. "He follows a long line of successful junior golfers from New Jersey who have chosen to wear the Blue and White. He is a hard-working, resilient and ambitious young man who embodies the spirit of the type of player we recruit. We are looking forward to working with Ryan and believe he has a bright future."

The No. 2-ranked player in New Jersey for the 2018 class, Lee recently helped lead the Knights to their third-straight New Jersey School Intercollegiate Athletics Association (NJSIAAA) Group 3 team title. He took fourth place in the Group 3 boys golf 2018 Tournament of Champions.

Lee earned All-Bergen County and All-North Jersey honors his sophomore and junior years and continued his outstanding play in summer 2017 by capturing first place at the U.S. Challenge Cup Northeast Junior Classic. He finished fourth at the American Junior Golf Association tournament held at the Penn State Blue Course and tied for sixth at the Northern Junior Championship at the New Haven Country Club.

The Nittany Lions recorded nine top-five finishes in their 10 tournaments this season, including a fourth-place team finish in the Big Ten Championships.

Penn State qualified for its fourth-straight NCAA Regional in 2018, and stands as one of only four Big Ten teams to claim that accomplishment. It is the second time Penn State has had four-consecutive regional appearances. Prior to the most recent stretch of appearances in 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018, the Nittany Lions also competed in four-straight regionals in 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010.
