A member of the Penn State Intercollegiate Athletics staff for more than 40 years, Dave Baker has served as associate athletic director since March 2015. He has responsibilities in the athletic business office, including team travel, Beaver Stadium operations, concessions and as sport administrator for women's and men's fencing and women's and men's golf.
Baker joined the Penn State staff in June 1974 as assistant sports information director and was promoted to sports information director in 1979. In 1986, he moved to the athletic business office where he has worked in event management, facility management, finance and business, and as sport administrator for men's basketball. He has served as athletic business manager and was named assistant athletic director in October 2002 and associate athletic director in 2015.
While in the sports information office, Baker earned 24 publications awards from CoSiDA, the College Sports Information Directors of America, including six "Best in the Nation" honors. He served on CoSIDA's academic All-American committee and also served a two-year term as president of the National Association of Collegiate Concessionaires (NACC),
Baker graduated from Penn State in 1973 with a degree in journalism. He also earned an MBA degree in accounting from Penn State in 1987.
He has taught a media relations course fall and spring semesters in the College of Communications' Center for Sports Journalism since 2005. His wife Eleanor has taught English at Penn State for more than 25 years.
