POST-GAME NOTES: Penn State 61, Morgan State 48

' ¬ ¢Penn State has now won its last 10 season openers. Having not lost a season-opening contest since 2004, the win also marks the fourth consecutive for head coach Patrick Chambers.
' ¬ ¢Penn State moves to 89-30 all-time in season openers and 79-10 in yearly home openers.

' ¬ ¢The Nittany Lions improve their advantage to 5-0 in all-time series against Morgan State.
' ¬ ¢Penn State moves to 13-1 all-time against current squads in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference.
Shep Garner, freshman guard
' ¬ ¢ Garner made his first collegiate start for the Nittany Lions against Morgan State. Garner is the first true freshman to start in a season opener since Trey Lewis in 2011, who made his rookie debut for the Nittany Lions Nov. 12, 2011 vs. Hartford.
' ¬ ¢ Both Garner (14) and Lewis (17) recorded double figure scoring in their debut outings for PSU.
D.J. Newbill, senior guard
' ¬ ¢ Newbill hit the court for his 66th consecutive start in the Blue and White, as he's started every single contest since arriving on campus as a sophomore transfer.
' ¬ ¢ With 17 points, Newbill recorded his 10th consecutive double-digit scoring outing, having posted double figures in every game since notching 22 against Iowa Feb. 15, 2014.
' ¬ ¢ With 1,125 career points, Newbill needs just 14 more points to move to No. 20 on the Penn State all-time career scoring list.
Geno Thorpe, sophomore guard
' ¬ ¢ Thorpe set a career-high mark with 11 points against Morgan State breaking his previous high (9) that he set last season against Ohio State (2/27/14).
