EVENT SUMMARY
A mile race that will benefit the continued success of the Penn State Ability Athletics program and local wounded warriors. The Ability Athletics track & field team is made up of both student athletes from Penn State, as well as adults in the area who are physically disabled and seeking the opportunity to compete in a high level of athletics. To be an athlete requires determination, dedication, and desire. The athletes train year round, and travel around the country to track meets and Paralympic sanctioned events, to compete in and qualify for championship meets such as Nationals, the World Wheelchair Games and the Paralympics.
A mile run, is a great fundraising event to support the Ability Athletics program.

ABOUT PENN STATE ABILITY ATHLETICS
The Ability Athletics program at Penn State University was created by program director Teri Jordan in 1999. The vision of this program is to give physically disabled individuals an equal opportunity to participate in many of the same athletic events in which able body persons compete in. Since the start of the program, the athletes have gained a ton of publicity nationally and internationally as two of the programs members have qualified for the Paralympic Games. An immediate future goal within this program is to have this program fully endowed so that it can continue to provide opportunities to these individuals for generations to come.
