Women's Hockey Releases 2018-19 Schedule

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Penn State women's hockey team has released its schedule for the 2018-19 season as announced by head coach Jeff Kampersal. The Nittany Lions will host 15 home games at Pegula Ice Arena in their seventh season as a varsity program.

"We are looking forward to starting the 2018-19 season," Kampersal said. "The players have worked extremely hard this summer and are ready to battle against our strong competitors in College Hockey America.  We have added a formidable non-conference schedule to get us prepared for league play the second half of the season."

2018-19 SCHEDULE
The Nittany Lions open the 2018-19 campaign with a pair of road games at NCAA runner-up Colgate Sept. 28-29 in Hamilton, N.Y. The two-game set marks the first matchup with the Raiders since the 2014 season.

Penn State begins its 2018-19 home slate Oct. 5-6 when it welcomes Merrimack to Pegula Ice Arena for the first time in program history. The Nittany Lions make a trip back to New York state with a series against Union (Oct. 12-13) before returning home to host Providence (Oct. 19-20).

Penn State finishes its October schedule by beginning its College Hockey America (CHA) schedule in Erie, Pa. against defending CHA-tournament champion Mercyhurst Oct. 26-27. The Nittany Lions follow that weekend by hosting Syracuse Nov. 3-4 in its first home conference series of the season.

After another non-conference series in New York at RPI Nov. 16-17, Penn State plays back-to-back conference series the next two weekends. The Blue & White take on RIT at home in a weekday series Nov. 20-21 just before Thanksgiving followed by a trip to Pittsburgh Nov. 30-Dec. 1 to face Robert Morris to complete the first half of the schedule.

Penn State's longest non-conference road trip sends them to Boston, Mass. where they will battle Boston University to begin the season's second half Dec. 30-31. The first matchup of the 2019 calendar year is a Tuesday home game against Cornell Jan. 8.

The Nittany Lions' first bye week in mid-January is followed by a CHA home series versus Lindenwood Jan. 20-21, its second Sunday-Monday series of the season. Penn State will play three games in five days on the road against CHA-foe Syracuse Jan. 25-26 and its final non-conference opponent, Princeton, Jan. 29.

Penn State begins February with a bye week before hosting four-straight conference games to complete its home schedule at Pegula Ice Arena. The Nittany Lions final four home games include sets against Robert Morris (Feb. 8-9) and Mercyhurst (Feb. 15-16).

The regular season schedule wraps up with four-straight road games at RIT (Feb. 22-23) and at Lindenwood (March 1-2).

The 2019 CHA Tournament will be hosted once again in Buffalo, N.Y. at the HARBORCENTER March 6-8. The quarterfinal round will be played March 6, followed by the semi-final March 7, and concluded with the championship game on the 8th to decide who will receive the CHA's automatic bid as one of eight teams in the NCAA Tournament. This season's NCAA Women's Frozen Four will be hosted by Quinnipiac in Hamden, Conn. March 22-24.
