The Big Ten announced its conference football schedules for 2022 through 2025 today. Penn State hosts five conference games in 2022 and 2024 and welcomes four B1G opponents in 2023 and 2025.
The 2022 Big Ten schedule opens Sept. 3 at Purdue, followed by a home game against Ohio State (Oct. 1) and a road trip to Michigan (Oct. 8). The Nittany Lions return to Beaver Stadium for game against Illinois (Oct. 15) and Michigan State (Oct. 29), sandwiched around the bye week. After traveling to Indiana Nov. 5, Penn State rounds out its 2022 Big Ten schedule against Maryland (Nov. 12), Minnesota (Nov. 19) and at Rutgers (Nov. 26).
In 2023, Penn State plays its first two conference games on the road at Illinois (Sept. 16) and Northwestern (Sept. 23). The Nittany Lions return to Beaver Stadium to meet Indiana (Oct. 7) before a trip to Michigan State (Oct. 14) and Ohio State (Oct. 21). Penn State has a three-game homestand against Iowa (Oct. 28), Michigan (Nov. 4) and Rutgers (Nov. 18) before closing out the season at Maryland (Nov. 25).
Penn State opens the 2024 Big Ten slate at Rutgers (Sept. 14). After a two-week hiatus, the Lions return to B1G play at home against Maryland (Oct. 5) and Illinois (Oct. 12), before heading to Wisconsin (Oct. 19). Penn State is back in Beaver Stadium to face Nebraska (Oct. 26) and Ohio State (Nov. 9) sandwiched around a bye week. The remainder of the 2024 Big Ten schedule is at Michigan (Nov. 16), at Indiana (Nov. 23) and the home finale against Michigan State (Nov. 30).
The 2025 Big Ten schedule opens against Rutgers Sept. 20, followed by visit to Illinois (Sept. 27). After a home game against Purdue (Oct. 11), the Nittany Lions head on back-to-back road trips to Maryland (Oct. 18) and Minnesota (Oct. 25). Penn State is home against Indiana (Nov. 1) before visiting Ohio State (Nov. 15). Rounding out the 2025 conference slate is a home game against Michigan (Nov. 22) and at Michigan State (Nov. 29).
Previously, Penn State announced non-conference matchups in 2022-25 at Auburn (Sept. 17, 2022), versus West Virginia (Sept. 2, 2023), at West Virginia (Aug. 31, 2024), versus Bowling Green (Sept. 7, 2024) and versus Virginia Tech (Sept. 6, 2025).
The No. 10/9-ranked Nittany Lions open the season Saturday, Sept. 1 against Appalachian State at 3:30 p.m. on Big Ten Network.
