Fall Schedule
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Penn State Women's Lacrosse team will play its first game action in Panzer Stadium as part of its seven-game Fall Schedule, announced on Thursday.
The Nittany Lions, led by Head Coach Missy Doherty, will open the Fall by hosting three teams on Saturday, October 6. Penn State will meet Syracuse at 10 a.m., Cornell at 12 p.m. and Lehigh at 2:30 p.m.
Syracuse reached the first round of the NCAA Tournament last Spring and ranked 19th in the final IWLCA Poll. Cornell finished 7-8 in 2018 with the Nittany Lions winning, 16-11, on February 24. Lehigh went 13-6 in 2018. Penn State earned a 14-13 win over the Mountain Hawks on February 17.
Penn State will compete at the U.S. Lacrosse Fall Tournament on Sunday, October 14 in Maryland. The Nittany Lions will match up against Georgetown at 10:30 a.m., Virginia Tech at 12:30 p.m. and Stanford at 2:30 p.m.
Georgetown finished the 2018 season with a 12-7 record and ranked No. 22 in the final IWLCA Poll, while Virginia Tech went 14-7 to be ranked 15th to end the year. The Hokies knocked off the Hoyas in the NCAA Tournament first round before falling in the second round. Stanford ended the season ranked 16th while compiling a 15-5 record.
The Nittany Lions will finish their Fall slate on Sunday, October 21 at Niagara for a 12:30 p.m. matchup. The Purple Eagles won eight games in 2018.
Penn State returns 26 members from last year's squad. The Nittany Lions reached their seventh straight NCAA tournament and finished 18th in the IWLCA Poll in 2018.
