ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The No. 9 Penn State women's volleyball team used a balanced offense to take a 3-0: 25-17, 25-21, 25-23, Big Ten Conference win at the University of Michigan on Sunday afternoon.
Penn State (11-3, 2-2) looked composed through the match, mounting their success behind the block. The Nittany Lions finished the match with 9.0 stops at the net.
The offense was able to match the productivity of the net defense, seeing five players register six-plus kills.
The freshman middle blocking duo of Serena Gray and Kaitlyn Hord led the way. Gray finished with a nine kills on .571 hitting, adding six blocks and three digs. Hord added a team-high 10 kills, hitting .412 and a block.
Freshman opposite Jonni Parker added nine kills, four digs, two blocks, an ace and an assist.
On the outside graduate student Taylor Leath and redshirt senior Nia Reed both tallied seven kills and three blocks, while Leath added four digs.
Redshirt senior Bryanna Weiskircher dished out 35 assists, adding seven digs, two kills, a block and a service ace.
Junior libero Kendall White scooped up 15 digs, while Jenna Hampton added four.
The Nittany Lions finally return home after a nine-match, month-long road trip to host Maryland at 7:30 p.m. ET in Rec Hall on Friday, October 5.
