JONESBOROUGH, Tenn. – Senior Ryan Dornes leads the Penn State men's golf team with a first-round score of 69 for 3-under at the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate. Dornes, currently in 16th, had five birdies on the day and came in 2-under on the back nine.
Host institution East Tennessee State built a tremendous lead and stands in first place with an 18-under 270 after Thursday's round. The Nittany Lions are 6-over at 294 for the day and are in 13th place.
Senior Charles Huntzinger moved up into a tie for 40th with a 1-over 73 with three birdies. Senior JD Hughes and junior Ryan Davis are currently in a tie in 60th at 4-over. Junior Alec Bard finished the day in a tie for 71st with a first-round 77 and Lukas Clark, playing as an individual, is tied for 75th with a 78.
Inclement weather cancelled the Penn State's last two tournaments and this three-day event marks the first time the Nittany Lions have completed a full day of competition since their first event in early September.
