Biro Named B1G Second Star of the Week

ROSEMONT, Ill. – Junior alternate captain Brandon Biro (Sherwood Park, Alb.) has been named the Big Ten Second Star of the Week as announced by the league office Tuesday morning for his performance this past weekend against Clarkson.

This marks just the second career weekly honor for Biro after earning Third Star accolades on November 21, 2017. The last Penn State honoree was junior Peyton Jones (Langhorne, Pa.) on February 27, 2018.

Biro paced the team on offense registering four points with a pair of goals and a pair of assists during the sweep of the Golden Knights. The Sherwood Park, Alberta native also earned a team-best plus-4 rating. His point total and plus/minus rating were each good for third best in the Big Ten over the weekend.

The junior scored once while adding one assist in each game this weekend and now has 13 multi-point games for his career. Biro's lone goal on Thursday night proved to be the game-winner during Penn State's 4-3 opening night victory.

Including the International game against Brock, Biro has scored in each game this season with multi-point efforts in all three as well with two game-winning goals.

Penn State returns to action this weekend when they host Niagara for a pair of contests on Friday evening at 7 p.m. and Saturday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. Tickets for both games are available here.
