UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Following a pair of 1-0 victories this past weekend, Alina Ortega Jurado (Waldgirmes, Germany) and Marissa Sheva (Sellersville, Pa.) were honored for their performances. Ortega Jurado was named to the TopDrawerSoccer Team of the Week, while Sheva was tabbed the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week.

This past weekend saw Penn State top Maryland, 1-0, on Friday, Oct. 12, and then defeat then-No. 21 Rutgers, 1-0, on Sunday, Oct. 14.

For Ortega Jurado, she was part of the Nittany Lion backline that allowed just one shot on goal between the two matches. Individually, she played the full 180 minutes on the weekend.

Offensively, Sheva netted the decisive goal in the 48th minute in Penn State's 1-0 win over the Scarlet Knights.

The No. 21 Nittany Lions are back in action on Thursday, Oct. 18, at Indiana. The match is scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. start at Bill Armstrong Stadium in Bloomington, Indiana.
